Playing With Fire ..

After taking a shower, with the wife & kids just waiting for me to get ready (hehe), we rushed down for the seaside BBQ.

Luckily we already booked a table, otherwise we have to wait for a free seat .. maybe after all the food is finish .. pheww .. There's a special treat that day for it's a Chinese New Year which fell on my birthday .. got birthday cakes from my family and the hotel .. so sweet of them.

Anyway, this 2 guys performance got a rousing appalause from the crowd for their fire-eating gig .. and they're not from Hawaii or even skinhead Red Indians .. just 2 local guys ..

Blurry Reflection ..

After admiring the sunset, as I walked back to the hotel room via the pool I saw the activities of preparing a poolside dinner by the hotel staff.

Upon seeing the reflection of it on the calm swimming pool water, I just got to take the shot .. handheld ..

Ahhh .. Sunset ..

Any trip to the beach won't be complete without pictures of sunsets.

Have to say that this is one of my favourite composition. With shadowy activities on the foreground & background .. what more can I say ..

Stoned ..

While relaxing in the hotel room, got the urge to stretch the 55-200mm USM lens .. and cropped the end result to the limit .. plus some editing of course ..

Chairs For Two ? ..

An evening at the Selesa Beach resort, Port Dickson.

It has been our annual retreat spot for the family. Sort of a family gathering for such a big family on my wife side. But hey .. who's complaining .. it got a lot of spots for photography buff like me.

Evening Nap ..

The family was basking by the hotel swimming pool & my niece was taking a nap on a beach chair that day. Just couldn't help myself to take the shot as the evening sun ray escaped through the chair's cavity.

Strange God's Creation ..

I think this were taken in Langkawi Island .. <--* sorry .. actually the picture was taken at Sentosa Island in Singapore .. just found out hehe

Can't really remember but went to the Underwater World or something. Got a glimpse of this species from behind the glass aquarium. Don't even know what's the species name but I like the texture ..

Walking Shadow ..

While relaxing under a tree shade by the PD beach, I came across this man & his son walking.

All of the sudden, I got this idea of making them a "shadow" coz it's such an extremely sunny day and the pic definately will turn out to be darken under the shade.

So I used the editor to play with the colour and this was the end result ..

Couple years back, we went to Sunway Lagoon for a day in the theme park. Since it was a weekend, it was kinda crowded, with the school holiday and all .. spotted this 2 guys been having the water therapy since we came .. using a non-IS tele lens (55-200mm) really did had a lot of handicap .. especially trying to keep the camera dry from the crowd (kids & adults alike) ..

A Soothing Feeling ..

Got a chance for a getaway to Bandung 2 years back ..

While the ladies doing the shopping therapy thingie, I went to the top floor of the Heritage (kinda like the UK Cheshire Oaks designer's outlet .. but smaller) and found this soothing so-called fountain for the restaurant above. With the help of a full moon, it really got a nice lighting ..

A little R&R with the family brought me to Ilham Resort, Port Dickson. Got ourselves a huge apartment on the top floor with a not so breathtaking scenery during the day. But it's kinda like a transformation during sunset & the night.

Storm Is Brewing ..

With the sky darkened, lightning striked everywhere and the wind's buidling up .. it was like a warzone that day.

From the top floor of my office building, I can see the storm's brewing in the horizon ..

Learning To Be Creative ..

Just got to try it ..

Getting the Canon 400D to work overtime just not enuff it seems. Barely 2 hours touched down in London, we went to Whiteleys Mall to escape the sub-zero London temperature for the ladies shopping therapy.

I just want to get creative .. with the help of my 18-55mm IS kit lens ..

Ghostly Image ..

Don't worry .. it's not a ghost pic ..

Just trying to test the limit of the IS (Image Stabilizer) function on the lens. Using handheld shots for a slow shutter speed really quite a pain. Luckily with IS (for Nikon it's VR) I was able to shoot the scene. To get the eerie feeling, I did it in black & white.

The location was the Gold Tower (old Dubai).

Zoom .. zoom .. zoom ..

It's not the band WAR song from the album Deliver The Word or The World Is The Ghetto (can't remember) .. p/s : found out the song called Four Cornered Room ..

But it did ringed inside my head when I took this picture in downtown old Dubai that morning. It's a common scene of bicycle there but this guy got that attitude face (with his dark glasses and all) just begging to be photographed.

Sleeping On The Job ..

This old man was taking a breather (snoring) between jobs ..

They were hands for hire in the old Dubai if you got things to haul from one street to another. Quite a lot of them actually. Way cheaper than FedEx no matter what load it is.

Beriyani .. Dubai Style ..

Got the chance to fly to Dubai last year ..

Found this Arab beriyani that was recommended by a friend who worked there. Quite mouth watering indeed .. and the best thing is one plate of this beriyani (with a BIG chunk of fried chicken) can feed 2 persons .. with a price of one ..

Making The Most Of Mistakes ..

In an excitement during one coastal vacation, I accidently overexposing these shots.

So tweaking it here & there using the editor, it came out .. hmmm .. quite interesting. Maybe next time I just HDR it .. hehe

Note : my SE K800i died on me already .. it electrocuted itself ..

Soldier Of Fortune ..

It was somewhere nearing Christmas ..

Since I was a frequent visitor to One Utama PJ, don't want to miss my brother's creation for the Christmas centrepiece. Helluva lot of people that day and my K800i starting to show it sign of terminal demising ..

Strange Morning ? ..

What a day it was ..

Just as I was preparing to start up the car that morning, looked up the sky and WOW! .. I just took out my K800i (now RIP) and snap away ..

I said to myself .. Allahuakbar (Allah Is Great) ..

Still In The Learning Curve ..

Even though I've a DSLR, taking picture with any other means of photography thrills me.

Used to use a film P&S, compact & prosumer even a camera phone, I do take pictures whenever I see a scenery worth a shot. This shot was taken with my now defunct SE K800i from my 17th floor office building. I loved the building up of the cloud and the contrasting lighting effect during the sunny day.

And Sony Ericsson really do make a good cybershot cameraphone .. but it just don't last long .. why eh ?

Hello There ..

Been trying to start this project long ago .. since I bought my 1st DSLR camera .. Canon EOS 400D.

Not really a great camera, but hey .. for a small budget couple with a beginner status like me, it was worth it. Even though not as flexible as the high-end DSLR which cost like a modified compact car, it serves me well .. so far. Don't really have a huge lense arsenal yet, just an 18-55mm IS, 55-200mm & a 50mm to kickstart my hobby/passion .. whatever .. el-cheapo lenses some might say .. but I want to learn from the bottom .. not to starve myself ..
